1/15/2010 - Current
Lead Engineer

Fluid, Inc.

Remote + San Francisco, CA

I am a lead client-side architect for The North Face and the lead server-side architect for JanSport.

-

8/5/2009 - 10/5/2009
Consultant

(Company Confidential)

Hired on for a short term contract to organize a starving Social Media SaaS product.

Introduced various tools for project organization and distributed communication, such as Pivotal Tracker, numerous wiki's, Campfire & Basecamp, a project bug tracker, etc.

Converted the version control system from Subversion to Mercurial to better complement the distributed team/coding environment, and wrote various help/reference documents to aid developers in this transition.

Converted the storage backend from MySQL to PostgreSQL using custom scripts (to contending with issues such as the MySQL timestamp type which must be converted).

Introduced an affordable infrastructure alternative [to the existing single Slicehost "LAMP" VPS] which consisted of a scalable VPS cluster utilizing Nginx (with round-robin load displacement), Python & virtualenv containers for Django, FastCGI (via Flup, with various custom init.d scripts), PostgreSQL, Fail2Ban, Shorewall Firewall, memcached, et al.
